As a dance service provider for more than a decade, our duty is to keep students dancing as long as their passion for dance burns bright. Thus, it is disheartening at times to witness first-hand dance students who give up their dance journey when PSLE swings around the corner. And this is not a phenomenon limited to our school, as our peers in the dance fraternity also observes the same occurrence. In recent years, we have even observed students dropping out of dance just because they are going into Primary One. Thus, can dance and academic results really co-exist? Performing Group Dance Technique Classes

The first question that springs to every student's and parent's mind is "what exactly are dance technique classes"? The follow-up question would typically be "how are they different to what my child is attending here every week"? As the name implies, Dance Technique classes focuses extensively on skills, artistry and execution that goes over and above what is covered in the regular dance classes. An advanced form of dance training, it is meant to provide our all interested students complementary training that would enable them to do better in their dance exams, performances and competitions. Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) Jazz Examination

At StepUp, our Jazz Curriculum is taught in accordance to the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) requirements, which is an established dance organisation that is very popular in the Asia Pacific region. Founded in 1933, the CSTD Curriculum focuses on the 4 'E's' of Expression, Education, Encouragement and Enjoyment. A challenging Jazz syllabus awaits every student in every grade from a pre-schooler to a young adult, working towards a Teaching Certificate and Diploma.
