Mr Chia Yee Shan

A late bloomer, Mr Chia started dancing only when he was 18 and since then, he had never turned his back from what he loves. Starting with Hip Hop and then spurred on to pick up Jazz by his mentor, Mr Chia has gone on to immerse himself in the many genres of dance and art forms such as Ballet, Tap, Acrobatic and Circus Arts.

In terms of his dance accreditations, Mr Chia attained his Dance Certification in the CSTD Teaching Certificate after completing each Grade with the standard of Honours or Honours Plus. He had also completed the Singapore Sports Council's National Coach Accreditation Level 1 Programme and Fitness Instructor Certification during his National Service as a Fitness Specialist.

Mr Chia is also adept at choreographing dance items for concerts in various tertiary schools and commercial shows for business organisations. An avid dancer himself, Mr Chia led his team "Quartz" to achieving a Top 4 finish in Mediacorp Channel 5’s ‘The Dance Floor’ Competition in 2015 and placed 1st Runner Up for the Contemporary Dance Competition ‘The Royal Dance Off 2012 and 2013.’

Among one of our longest serving teachers here, having joined our ranks since 2012, Mr Chia has gone on to nurture and hone the next generation of dancers, with his disciplines winning Top Places in Dance Competitions since we took our first step into Dance Competitions in 2023. As an indication of the excellence that Mr Chia brings across to his charges, he has also been recognised at the personal level, winning a hattrick of the 'Outstanding Teacher/Choreographer Awards' as bestowed by the jury from the International Arts Festival (IAF) from 2021 to 2023.

Dance has opened up a whole new world for Mr Chia and he is thrilled to be living his passion and fighting for his dreams to achieve greater success and perfection. Believing that anyone can dance, Mr Chia wishes to inspire and bring more people together in this journey of self-discovery through the art form of dance.
