Royal Academy Of Dance Ballet Examination

At StepUp, our Ballet Curriculum is taught in accordance to the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) requirements, which is the world's most influential dance education and training organisation. Established in 1920 and counting the late Queen Elizabeth II as her patron, the RAD Curriculum provides Ballet training and accreditation for pre-schoolers to young adults.

With presence in more than 85 countries, the annual RAD Ballet Exam is internationally recognised and students all over the world are appraised by the same RAD standards. Every year, about a quarter million students participate in the annual RAD Ballet Exams and locally, the junior and major grades Exam Tour for Singapore runs almost daily from the months of March to May. Thus, you can be assured that the RAD Curriculum is an immensely popular accreditation for both students and parents in Singapore.

Read on to find out more about the RAD Ballet Exam, the motivation for participating in this Exam and how we support our students in their preparation for this Exam!

As shared above, the RAD is an internationally recognised dance organisation and we have conducted the RAD Ballet Exams annually in our studios since our founding. Please refer to the video below for the final day highlights from the 2022 RAD Ballet Exam and our 2022 Ballet Exam Awards Ceremony:

For the parents who are serious in developing your child’s interest in Ballet, participation in the Exam is a must to grow their passion and continued advancement to the next higher level of their Ballet Grading. Moving on, please take note of these key Exam information

To perform the registration in the App, please refer to this step-by-step video guide

Last but not least, our Exam are conducted without bias or prejudice to any of our students. Unlike some schools which may 'audition' or 'pre-assess students' before allowing them to register, our Exam is opened to all students who are interested. While there may be a small handful who may require additional training in order to meet the minimum standards required, such extra coaching (beyond the additional coaching class from October to March above) are few and far between. On our part, we also wish to assure all parents that their child will be in good hands with us for the conduct of the Exams. Please refer to the information below for more details:

We trust that the information provided above will allow our readers to have the best overview what the RAD Ballet Exam is all about, and to make an informed decision to enrol their child for the RAD Ballet Exam.
