Ms Shir Lyn Quek
Greetings from Ms Shir Lyn who is our pioneering Hip Hop and Jazz Instructor at Tampines Central.
Ms Shir Lyn started dancing from the age of 7, starting out in Chinese Dance before moving on to Modern and Contemporary Dance. Eventually, her dance journey ventured into various street genres such as Hip Hop, Urban and Street Jazz, and gained her traction as a versatile dancer who excels in Contemporary and Jazz.
To continue her pursuit in dance, she joined Universal Studio Singapore in 2012, as a Parade Performer. She was selected to be on several shows such as the Resort World Sentosa Grand Awakening and Resort World Sentosa Countdown. In 2015, Ms Shir lyn was hired as a backup dancer for the television programme, Asia Got Talent.
Ms Shir lyn has trained her students to be well versed in Contemporary and Jazz, and has sent them for Competitions such as Singapore Youth Festival, Super 24, and Get The Beat, with notable achievements such as distinction from the Singapore Youth Festival in 2015, 2019 and 2021.
Ms Shir Lyn demonstrates strong self-motivation to achieve her high personal goals and her Competition achievements are testament to her ability and determination. These include achievements as the Champion of Super 24 in 2012, Champion of All-Babes Cineleisure Dance Battle for two consecutive years in 2012 & 2013, 1st runner up of Super 24 in 2013 and 1st runner up for The Royal Dance Off in 2014. In 2019, Shir Lyn completed all her Commonwealth Society of Teachers Of Dancing (CSTD) Modern Jazz and received Honours and Honours Plus for all her grades. At the moment, she is in the final stages of completing her CSTD Teachers’ Certification.
